We don’t store wrapped bars of soap. They are individually wrapped from storage racks, so as a customer you effectively get a brand new bar every time you order.
Labels are paper and recyclable so we don’t routinely pass on the cost of expensive pre-printed boxes to our customers. However, a slightly more expensive gift boxed version is available should you require it.
Some of our packaging is pre purchased and we reuse boxes and envelopes we have received goods in ourselves when we can. Our neighbours give us their boxes/paper/card as well. Paper and card used is recyclable.
Our bar soaps are 100% olive oil and hand made naturally using the cold process method. During the manufacture of bar soap glycerine, which is a natural moisturiser, is developed naturally during and beyond the bars one month maturation.
We only use natural essential oils for fragrance never artificial fragrance oils. In the case of bar soap these are added at 2% concentration just before the soap is poured into the mould. We use slightly more than in our liquid soap as it degrades during the chemical process of hardening. Technically we could add more but we don’t want scents to be overpowering.
All of our soaps are biodegradable so when you flush them down the drain environmental impact is minimal if not non-existent.
We absolutely do not test on animals. All of our soaps are assessed for safety using our written formulations.
Our soaps are superfatted. This means that during manufacture we use more oil than the alkali can turn into soap. This in turn means there is a slight moisturising benefit from the excess oil but more importantly, all the alkali is used up. If any was left in the final product it would be irritating/drying to your skin.
The weight of our bar soap is stated as 110g when actually get about 130g/140g. This is because natural soap changes weight as it ages and matures. It’s a way for us to make sure you get what you pay for.
